Airbags
Due to consumer safety concerns, eBay Malaysia prohibits all sales of deployed or rebuilt airbags.
Imported Vehicles
Under Malaysian law, it is illegal to import (or sell previously imported) motor vehicles and equipment unless the Seller had obtained an Approval Permit from the Ministry of Finance and the proper procedures laid down by the Road Transport Authority (JPJ) have been complied with. Odometer Modification Devices - Because it is unlawful in many jurisdictions to reset odometers to read less than the true actual mileage on a motor vehicle, sales of odometer modification and calibration devices (whether manual or electronic) are prohibited on eBay.

All members should review eBay's Prohibited and Restricted Items policy. Particular items of concern on eBay Motors include:
- Catalytic converters and test pipes
- Lock-picking devices
- Freon and other refrigerants
- Government IDs and licences
- Stolen property
- Recalled vehicles, parts, tires and child safety seats
- Government vehicle licence plates
- Vehicle titles
- Parts or accessories designed to bypass any portion of an exhaust system, such as an exhaust cutout, are not allowed
Before buying or selling a vehicle on eBay Malaysia, please review the applicable laws in Malaysia. Topics members may wish to review include seller licensing rules, title requirements, emissions standards and registration policies.
Please also note that vehicles with left-hand drive are not permitted in Malaysia.
Sellers should:
State rules in the listing regarding what types of bidders will be accepted. For example:
- "No bidders with negative feedback"
- "New bidders with 0 feedback must contact the seller."
Outline clear terms of sale in their listing description. These terms should outline clearly what payment methods the seller will accept and within what time period the seller expects the buyer to pay.
Know their vehicle:
- Run a title check before listing the vehicle.
- Make sure that any branded title on the history of the vehicle is appropriately disclosed in the listing description.
- Provide complete title history. If there was a salvage title in the history, make sure it is disclosed in the listing description.
- Ensure the appropriate status has been checked on the Sell Your Item (SYI) page (Clear, Salvage, Other).
- Disclose structural damage and major repairs or replacements to the vehicle being listed, including frame, suspension, engine and body alterations and installation of after market parts.
Comply with the relevant country’s laws relating to car dealer licensing if their trading activities meet the definition of a car dealer in that country.
Consider informing buyers when their countries have stricter emissions standards as it may impact buyers’ ability to register the vehicle being sold.
List the exact mileage of the vehicle. If the seller is unsure of the odometer's accuracy (especially on older or 5-digit odometer vehicles), the seller should disclose such uncertainties in the listing description.
If the buyer is located outside Malaysia, he should educate himself on applicable laws in the country of the potential buyer.
Make sure any liens on the vehicle are disclosed in the listing description.
Provide the Vehicle Registration number in the listing description. Sellers will attract more legitimate buyers if a member has the ability to conduct their own checks on the vehicle's history.

The current registered owner of the vehicle and the buyer must apply for a transfer of vehicle ownership with the Road Transport Authority (JPJ), Vehicle and Transit Licensing Division.
Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.

eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since the sale of vehicles is highly regulated or may cause harm to eBay or its members, members are encouraged to educate themselves on the laws governing their sale.
