Guidelines for Fundraising on behalf of charitable organisations
- Depending on the objective of the charity or fundraising, approval needs to be obtained from the relevant ministry or government department. For example, if the charity is welfare related, sellers need to seek approval from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Malaysia.
- It will also be illegal for a professional fund-raiser to solicit money or other property for the benefit of a charitable institution, or for a commercial participator to represent that charitable contributions are for the benefit of a charitable institution, unless it is done so in accordance with an agreement with the institution satisfying the prescribed requirements.
Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so.
