Unassuming and surprising
Not a fantasy tale like many of Ghibli's most popular films,
but nonetheless engaging and emotionally powerful.
I recommend it as one of the studios' best.

Give it a chance and you will be hooked
I watch a random episode of this a long time ago and really couldn't get into it.
After borrowing the boxset from a friend, I realised I didn't get it before because they set up their jokes episodes in advance - almost everything involved in an episode is important and comes back later for a joke.
Watch it all in quick succession and you won't miss anything - its very cleverly written to allow for jokes to be setup this way.

The new X-files.
Great acting, good special effects - interesting scenarios.
Jenson Ackles is really entertaining in the lead role, the characters develop well as the series goes on.
