The Big Bad Fox And Other Tales... (2018, DVD) Le grand méchant Renard et autres
Jun 23, 2018
Super Funny and Cute Animated Movie
I saw this on a flight from Poland and loved it so much I had to get a copy to watch again; but the only English language versions I found were subtitled. This item was more reasonable on eBay than Amazon at the time I ordered it. The title is more of less "Big Bad Wolf" but it departs form kid's tales in a big way. Essentially it's a story in a story with the farm's animals putting on three plays. The first episode is a delinquent stork giving a baby for delivery to the irresponsible Duck and Rabbit, and Pig trying to keep them from destroying the world. it's rib-splitting funny and just so gorgeously animated; the pond sequence is better than anything Disney did. Next up is a inept fox that steals eggs on behalf of the wolf, but the chicks hatch and think the fox is mommy; I'm not going to reveal the plot but it's far funnier and even moving that you may suspect. Last is a very strange set up of Christmas. Some references are going to be obscure unless your versed in European things, but this would be great for children that can keep up with the subtitles. Even more so appreciated by adults that love animation. The sound track is a French Dixieland, quite good. Easy five stars for the richness of the animation, joy of the plot, and careful production.
1/72ND SCALE 3D PRINTED POST WAR BRITISH CENTURION MK 5 AVRE TANK W/DOZER/SKIRTS

Great 1/72 3D Printed Model!
This review is for the 1/72 3D printed model of the British Centurion MK 5 AVRE from BBUDDD1. Although not as finished as Shapeway's offerings, it's a heck of a lot less and frankly the rough finish does a good job of mimicking an active armored vehicle. Meanwhile, it's far better detailed and better made than some other 3D 1/72 armor I've gotten off eBay. Very sturdy and solid, which precludes open hatches or engine area, but an excellent scale example that requires no construction. Turret fit well on the chassis with no trimming. My only gripe is that the built in shovel and tow rope both are a bit angular, and a small area of the driver's side hull needed filling with putty, also I like a little more head and tail light detail so I can install front and real lights from UK's "Little Lenses". No biggie, I can superimpose another shovel and paint the cable to give it some dimension, and use scrap to build up the lights. I liked this model so much that I bought four others from this vendor, as they make some models that you just don't see in this scale. Don't be in a hurry to get it, they print to order, so it will take some time to get it. The durability and weight would make this ideal for war gamers as well. The photos show the model about halfway through painting, it still has to be detailed and weathered, and I'm going to install a Browning machine gun from after market stock, although this is a good stage for wargaming use.

Good For An Edgy Laugh or Two
"On Edge" is an effective spoof of the skating industry, but not a straight-on mocking of the movie "Cuting Edge." Instead, it's shot as a documentary, mostly through they eyes of a humble Zamboni operator. Some funny gags such as the twins that do the same routine, dressed as Dalmation dogs, as well as skewering of groupies and skating moms. But, the viewpoint moves from being through the Zamboni operator back to third person, and the Zamboni man's emergence from blue collar to overdressed is unexplained. The fat jokes almost wear out their welcome, but are redeemed in the end. Some wonderful gags, good acting, and professional filming save the film. Well worth buying if you need some comic relief from the overbearing seriousness of skating.
