Michael Friedman’s career in the music business began in 1966 as a publicist for The Bee Gees, The Mamas and Papas, The Turtles, and The Hollies. In 1968, he joined Albert Grossman Management, working with Bob Dylan, The Band, Janis Joplin, Todd Rundgren, Ritchie Havens, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter Paul and Mary, Paul Butterfield and James Cotton. He later managed Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge. In 1980, he joined Arista Records as Executive Assistant to Clive Davis and created Arista’s video
