This is not obvious until you attempt to put the clasp onto the band. In this case as soon as I did the surface of the band began to crumble immediately. It was not pliable enough to tolerate any stress. I asked to return the band and sent photos. The seller was fantastic about the whole thing. I cannot speak more highly of them. They apologized and issued an immediate refund. Beware when buying older satin bands from Cartier.
