As a younger person I was told I would need to use a walking stick occasionally. ( I was mortified, I was middle aged and felt like using a cane was for "older people" ) and even now most people only use a cane when they have too !
I really didn't like the metal ones that fold up, I hated the noise they made when walking, banging and clanking.
Then I discovered an old wooden one in my garage. It didn't draw attention because of the noise, however I hated the way it looked. I also felt I could trust a wooden cane , for some reason it seemed more sturdy and stronger.
So I went to work on it, glitter, varnish car lacquer anything I could find, and I created something beautiful.
Now my canes are a "fashion accessory" they draw attention in a way I'm proud of, sometimes I use them even when I don't need too :)
Its like having a trustworthy friend by my side.
They are beautiful, sturdy and can be used in sunshine and rain.
