    As described by the seller this external drive was brand new. However, the seller failed to mention that the older style USB cable needed to connect the drive to a computer was missing. Fortunately, I had saved this type of cable from an old device I no longer have, so I was able to successfully connect the drive to my PC. Other than that, I am happy with my purchase because the drive works very well and because the price was reasonable.
