    When I was seven, in 1975, my mom—newly on her own with three kids—took us on a bus trip. Caught in the rain, we stepped into a small-town shop I’ll never forget. It felt enormous: high shelves, wooden ladders, dim light that made the aisles mysterious. My siblings went for toys, but I was drawn to the oddities tucked between them—cracked dolls, old books, strange relics. Behind the counter stood a tall man in old Edwardian dress, with a large stuffed crow at his side. He introduced himself, or perhaps the store, as Thornevale.

    Years later, when I began selling on eBay, I realized I was doing the same thing: mixing everyday useful things with unusual collectibles and oddities. That childhood memory came back, and I knew what to call my shop. Thornevale is about curiosity, discovery, and the thrill of never knowing what you’ll find next.
