Damage to the box in one corner was not visible in the eBay photograph which was conveniently cropped to avoid showing the damaged area, nor was it disclosed in the description of the item which was supposed to be new but clearly was not. It was also clear that the damage was already present rather than something that happened in shipping. I gave the vendor a chance to make good by offering a partial refund, but a week later they have still not replied. A neutral rating is being generous.
