It was 1943 and I was 9 years old when my mother decided to let me have a single edge razor blade. It was the beginning of a lifetime hobby of building model airplanes. It started with 10 cent Comet, Megow, and Ace Whitman rubber band kits, My first engine was an ignition Bullet 29 on a Playboy Free Flight. Then came U-Control with Victor Stanzel's V-Shark. Jim Walker set the flight circle's on fire with a Bell Crank, Then came the Korean War ( Police Action) It was 4 years and I got lucky and came home. One of my first stops was the local Hobby Shop. It was in about 1955 when a single channel rudder only radio called Citizenship hit the hobby. I have seen 75 years of model airplane growth that has been amazing, I was in the insurance business for all of my working life and my son has followed in my footsteps. I hope you find as much enjoyment out of living as I have and enjoy our hobby. I wish you and yours the best.
