About us
Trade cards of yesteryear, particularly the Victorian era, reveal insights about the culture of the day. Up until ~1860, all advertising was in black and white. The then-new color lithography printing techniques hint at the importance of certain images and colors to capture potential buyers. The cards, often free from merchants, were often saved and mounted in scrapbook albums to preserve and enjoy.
My store has an abundance of trade card listings with a focus on jewelers trade cards. Geographically, most are from the Northeast but some from San Francisco, Omaha and Florida have been represented. Many depict pocket watch cases such as Boss and Keystone, while many, curiously, offer imagery that has nothing to do with jewelry at all but rather small children at play, or adults at home or outdoors.
I have some antique silver from the US and Europe and also complementary reference books on silver for those taking a scholarly interest.
