NotesBenjamin Britten and Peter Pears are not only famous for their artistic achievements as composer and singer but are also well-known as partners who inspired each other over many decades, while cohabiting in a love relationship. Britten's work as a composer would have been unthinkable without the voice of Peter Pears but in return, Pears would not have enjoyed his impressive career as a singer without the composer and sensitive piano accompanist. The music they made together as a piano/vocal duo was legendary; this set contains a wonderful overview of their unique recordings from the 40s and 50s.
