An improvisational jam band with a nonetheless rigorous approach to their music, Chicago-based Umphrey's McGee made a name for themselves early in their career with live shows and underground distribution of CDs. They are loved as much for their Zappa-esque sense of humor as for their virtuosic playing--half the band members hold music degrees--and have garnered a loyal fan base throughout the midwest. This show, filmed at the Skyline Stage in Chicago on July 26-27, marked the last show played by original drummer Mike Mirro; Kris Myers has subsequently taken over.
