About this product

Product Information

This book offers a new approach to an old subject. Brevity, color, and characters bring to life the fundamentals of probability--concepts and symbolism--to make this important subject accessible to everyone. This book arose from materials prepared by the author for students who had read but t sufficiently understood their textbooks. It is unique in that each chapter consists of one page of text and a facing page of illustrations. The text is supported by cartoon characters discussing particular issues--an evolution in the aproach to fun learning. This book can be used by beginning students or as an excellent review and supplement for more advanced students. For students who may have been away from arithmetic for awhile, a fraction review is given in the appendix. Useful real life applications are included. Parents, students, and teachers will find this book worthwhile.

Author BiographyLin Sten has written fiction and nonfiction for many years. Paragon House published his nonfiction Souls, Slavery, and Survival in the Molenotech Age in 1999. He is currently working on several fiction and nonfiction projects while teaching mathematics and physics part-time. He has taught probability for many yeas in courses ranging over arithmetic, mathematical literacy, and statistics. He has often used probability as a systems analyst in the aerospace industry and to solve problems in physics. He is intrigued by the mystery of nature and awed by the magical power of symbolism. The ways in which people overcome their phobias in mathematics and physics continually fascinate him, and every day in the classroom he learns something more about how to help them. This book arose from materials especially prepared by him for students who had read but not sufficiently understood their textbooks. He lives in California on the coast of the Pacific Ocean with his mate, Liliana, without whom this book would not have been written.
