NotesDigitally re-mastered two-for containing a pair of albums from the legendary composer. This release contains Henry Mancini's complete original best-selling album THE MUSIC FROM PETER GUNN (RCA Victor LPM-1956), which presents his popular score for Blake Edwards' celebrated Peter Gunn TV series. The album features some of the most impressive West Coast jazzmen. In addition to the afore-mentioned album, this CD includes Mancini's first long play in it's entirety, the 1957 DRIFTWOOD AND DREAMS, later reissued as THE VERSATILE HENRY MANCINI. It features Mancini's wonderful music, plus the wonderful guitar of Laurindo Almeida and vocals by the soprano Loulie Lulu Jean Norman, who would later achieve fame with her singing on the theme for Star Trek. While the first LP consists solely of Mancini compositions, the second combines two of his songs with his arrangements of ten popular tunes of the day.
