Mario is off again—this time to rescue Princess Daisy in the first Mario game for handhelds, Super Mario Land for Game Boy. Players control Mario as he has to save the day and defeat the alien enemy Tatanga. Tatanga has invaded Sarasaland and hypnotized all the inhabitants (including Princess Daisy) in Super Mario Land for Nintendo Game Boy Color. Super Mario must travel through the four kingdoms of Sarasaland (Birabuto, Muda, Easton, and Chai) to rescue the inhabitants and defeat Tatanga and his minions. Super Mario Land for Game Boy enables players to run and jump as Super Mario to defeat his enemies. But this Mario for Game Boy Color game also allows Mario to pilot an airplane and submarine in his quest. Each of the four kingdoms has three individual levels to conquer, making the game both long lasting and replayable. This game is the first of many Mario for Game Boy Color games and was a flagship title that led to many Game Boy units being sold.
