The Sound Devices 722 160 GB portable digital recorder is redefining how musicians choose to capture a live performance, and it can be easily mounted on a rack or carried independently. The 722 is file-based and capable of recording uncompressed audio at 16 or 24 bits. Sample rates between 32 kHz and 192 kHz ensure high-quality sound reproduction, and the onboard preamps are engineered to bring great performance out of condenser microphones. While it’s designed to be an excellent standalone recording solution, using the 722 with an outboard audio mixer will expand the power of this unit substantially. Phantom power, high-pass filters, and a limiter work to help users record CD-quality vocals and instruments. This recorder is even powerful enough to capture audio for films.
