The Sony DVP-NS3100ES provides playback for any DVD. Once hooked up to a television, the Sony DVD player displays the contents of the DVD, whether a movie, pictures, or music. In addition to standard DVDs, the Sony DVP-NS3100ES plays other disc formats. This includes CD, CD-RW, DVD-RW, and VCD. Users can place a CD filled with JPEG pictures in this DVD player to view a slideshow on their television. If music is in order, the Sony DVD player can even play MP3 CDs through the speakers attached to the television. In addition to using standard definition playback, the Sony DVP-NS3100ES is also an upconverting DVD player. When hooked up to an HD television using component video cables, the Sony DVP-NS3100ES upconverts standard DVD playback to 1080i or 720p resolutions, depending on the television.
