Before digital cameras, the only way you could see photos instantly was if you’d taken them with a Polaroid camera. The Polaroid 600 Business Edition 2 instant film camera is an entertaining reminder of those bygone days of OneStep photography. This Polaroid model instant camera has a close-up lens that you can select if you want to shoot a subject that’s only 2 to 4 feet away. It also has an automatic focusing system and automatic variable speed and aperture shutter functions. Cameras like this one are durable pieces of equipment that were manufactured for rugged use. These cameras measure 6.5 by 13 by 4.8 inches and weigh approximately one pound. You can remove their automatic flashes and snap these cameras shut to make them more mobile when you’re not using them to take a OneStep photo. The camera accessories include a fully detachable, automatic flash with a range of 2 to 10 feet. A small, high-powered battery that’s built into the film cartridge itself powers the electronic illumination that’s used by this piece of equipment. This battery takes approximately five seconds to recharge between uses. You’ll be able to tell when the battery is recharging because a red light will appear in the viewfinder. You will be ready to use your Polaroid for photography again when the red light goes off. For best results, use your flash every time you take a picture with your Polaroid 600 Business Edition model. Instant cameras like this model use self-developing Polaroid 600 film. This film is still being manufactured, so shopping for it is easy. There are 10 exposures in every cartridge. You’ll want to store any additional instant film you buy for these cameras someplace dark and cold. A refrigerator works well, and it may even be able to extend the life of your film beyond the expiration date on the box. Remember to take your film out of the fridge and warm it up for an hour or so before you put it into your Polaroid. When you remove your cartridge from the box and unwrap it, grasp your cartridge by its side. One side of the cartridge will have metal contacts while the other side of the cartridge will be dark. The dark side of the pack contains the chemicals that will create the pictures you take with your 600 series Business Edition 2 model. The latch to the tray into which you’ll load your instant film is located on the front right of the camera. Load it carefully with the print side up and gently slide the tray in. Once the film door is closed securely, the film cover will eject automatically and the picture counter will set to 10. You’ll know when all the film inside the camera has been used up because the counter will be blank. Simply pull the latch that opens the tray and pull the colored tab to remove the empty pack. You can load fresh film into your Polaroid camera at the same time.
