Awarded since 2007 to celebrate a composerÆs outstanding contribution to popular music, the prize was handed over to the songwriter during a ceremony held at the Warner Theatre, Washington D.C. During the gala, Simon performed some of his best known work together with a string of famous artists such as Alison Krauss, Philip Glass, James Taylor and Stevie Wonder.
