Making its debut onto the portable scene, Panzer Tactics DS is designed to provide a streamlined turn-based WWII strategy game for on-the-go play. Single players may take command of either the Russian, German, or American armies and then work through the 12 missions found in each campaign. Based around the historical events of WWII, each armed force begins in a different time period. For example, the Russian campaign begins mid-war as they try and rid their country of the invading German army, while the American crusade begins well after the start of the war. Units also follow the historical timeline and players are only allowed to select and use artillery, vehicles, aircraft, and infantry available at that point in the conflict. <br><br>The action will play out in the lower screen while the upper view shows important information such as terrain characteristics and weather patterns. When a core group of soldiers within the player's infantry makes it through battle, they can gain experience that allows them to cause greater damage and have higher morale. Morale is important in the game and when morale no longer exists armies will surrender. Defeating an enemy force, finishing missions, and capturing towns earns a player fame points to spend on new recruits such as a general to increase the abilities of units and commandos who can sneak through enemy lines undetected. Two players may compete in a "Hot Seat" game or up to four players can play together by connecting through a wireless network in one of ten multiplayer maps.
