This Camera from Pentax — the K-01 — has a unique style and flair. The camera was designed from the ground up by Marc Newson. Newson is an industrial designer who has created designs for numerous consumer products.On the technical side, this camera uses an APS-C size CMOS sensor. The sensor delivers a 16.28-megapixel resolution. It produces crisp, sharp images. In addition, the built-in dust removal system keeps it working well over years of use. Because it was designed with the popular K-mount, it is fully compatible with more than 200 interchangeable lenses. More than 20 of those lenses were designed specifically for DSLR as well as mirrorless cameras, so you can be creative and change your lens for a truly different look.The Pentax K-01 has a solid feel thanks to a stainless-steel alloy frame. The sides are wrapped with a grooved, textured rubber to protect the digital camera in less than optimal conditions. There's a slight bulge on the right to give you a firm grip.The Pentax K-01 has an ISO range of 100–25,600. It delivers great image quality in both still pictures and full HD video at 1080p. You can choose from 24, 25, or 30 frames per second. A continuous shooting mode lets you shoot action at five frames per second. The Pentax K-01 also features sensor-shift shake reduction. Its battery life is good with a full charge, delivering approximately 500 images (assuming 50 percent flash usage).The most common lens matched with this camera is the Pentax 18-55 f5.6. However, the camera is also fully compatible with the phenomenal 40mm f 2.8 XS pancake lens. It will work with all K-mount lenses except for those with the KAF4 mount variant. Since the shake reduction is built into the body, it is available for all lenses. Also, you can shift to manual focus at any time with an MF/AF switch tucked next to the lens mount.The shooting mode dial on the top of the camera allows you to select one of the advanced modes. Choose from aperture priority, shutter priority, or manual mode. You can also select from a series of automatic and program modes. In total, the K-01 has 19 shooting modes. The top also features a flash hot shoe. However, the built-in flash delivers reasonable performance with a guide number of 12 at ISO 100.The K-01 does not have an eye-level viewfinder. Nevertheless, the 3-inch LCD screen on the rear has a very high resolution of 920 K dots. It boasts a wide viewing angle and is easy to see outside. The LCD is fixed in place rather than articulating. A large rubber flap on the bottom of the camera protects the DC in, AV out, and the HDMI connectors. The SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot is on the right side.
