NotesBILL WHYTE graduated from Central Missouri State University with a degree in Mass Media. Bill was a member of the United Talent roster in Nashville that was owned by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn . Bill and his band traveled and played with most of the headliners on the circuit through the years. The first song Bill recorded was 'Mo Mo the Missouri Monster' about a fictitious sasquatch roaming the Missouri hills. The record is still played in the Show Me State. Bill Whyte's radio career includes two stints at B105.1 in Cincinnati with radio stops along the way in Nashville, Indianapolis and Milwaukee. In 1991, Bill won the CMA Large Market Personality of the Year Award. He has also won the Gavin Award for Best Morning Show, an AIR Award for Best New Show in Nashville and has received two Billboard nominations. The year 2000 found Bill back in Nashville for a second time working for WSM-FM. While there, Bill started dedicating more time to his songwriting. He has written with Linda Davis, Billy Dean, Blake Mevis, Keith Anderson, Wil Nance, Steve Dean, Bobby Tomberlin, Sherrie Austin, Brian McComas, Tony Stampley, Lisa Shaffer, and others. Cledus T. Judd has recorded two of Bill's songs. Linda Davis has recorded one on her 'Linda Davis Family Christmas' CD that she, Bobby Tomberlin and Bill wrote together. It was Billy Dean who first encouraged Bill to stop resisting his funny side and write more comedy songs. Billy's advice led directly to the OFF THE WALL project. Bill is currently developing a movie script with co-writer and great friend, Roger Naylor. Bill is married to his wife, Kathy, who inspires him and keeps him organized. They have a daughter, Heather, who is a vocal major at Belmont University in Nashville. OFF THE WALL is a collection of eleven original comedy songs recorded by Bill Whyte 'live' at the Bluebird Café in Nashville. Produced by Steve Ivey, the songs range from silly to irreverent to sometimes topical. The fact that this project was recorded for Whyte Trash Records indicates that this is truly an original comedy song album. From the timely 'DIPSTICK' (High Price Of Gas Song) to the 'it's about time' slap at karaoke singers in 'KING OF KARAOKE'... OFF THE WALL has a little something for everyone's musical funnybone. Two of the songs have been recorded by Cledus T. Judd. IF GEORGE STRAIT STARTS DANCIN' is a tongue in cheek slap at country music stars who try to dance. GOIN' UGLY EARLY provides a surprise ending that few see coming. IF I HAD BOOBS is written from the guys perspective of...'What If', while TRAILER PARK SEXY proves that beauty is truly in the eyes of the guy holding a Bunsen Burner. As the song points out, it truly is hard 'not to love a woman who's got her house tied down'. While writing one day with Nashville artist, Billy Dean...Billy told Bill to just 'let his funny side go'. OFF THE WALL is the culmination of that encouragement.
