NotesEU-only collection. Whilst many have written songs of the western prairies, mountains and deserts, few have portrayed this wilderness so starkly, elegantly and vividly as The Sons of the Pioneers - for almost eight decades the leading exponents of the western ballad. Jasmine has already released two albums of earlier performances of The Sons of the Pioneers. On this collection the focus is on the early 1960s with the LPs Lure of the West and Tumbleweed Trail. These albums are increasingly rare. 24 classic western songs featuring definitive versions of several western standards all beautifully recorded in stereo and digitally remastered for superb, crisp sound. Features some superb three-part harmony singing plus the rich, velvet voice of Tommy Doss, who replaced Bob Nolan from the original line up.
