NotesDISCOVERY is the recording project of Rostam Batmanglij, the keyboard player of VAMPIRE WEEKEND, and Wes Miles of RA RA RIOT. "LP? is an album packed with synthesizers, handclaps, booming 808 bass and jittery sixteenth note high-hats. It's an album devoid of acoustic guitars and real drums. Instead European electronic dance sounds skitter in double-time over steady R&B grooves. Alongside eight spanking new cuts there's a slowed down version of the JACKSON 5?s "I Want You Back" and a space-pop remix of Ra Ra Riot's "Can You Tell" (re-dubbed "Can You Discover?"). Guests vocals come from Vampire Weekend's lead singer Ezra Koenig ("Carby") and DIRTY PROJECTORS Angel Deradoorian ("I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend"), who is getting massive coverage right now and a star in the making.
