About this product

Product Information

Strap on your bunny ears and save the world in "Keio Flying Squadron," a zany one-player shooter for the Sega CD. Join Rami and her pet dragon Spot as they go head-to-head with hordes of enemies. This title is a fast-paced, thumb-burning, blast-em-up adventure that is sure to have you on the edge of your seat. The wackiness of the plot sets the tone for what you can expect in this hilarious yet challenging game. In the woods of Japan, the descendants of gods live in peace inside of a well. When an evil raccoon steals a mysterious key, Keio is forced into action. Her goal is to defeat the raccoon and return the key before dinner."Keio Flying Squadron" is a horizontal shooter game. Navigation is automatic with the screen constantly scrolling to the right. As the screen scrolls, enemies appear and attempt to shoot down Rami and Spot. You need to not only avoid their bullets by flying around them but also counterattack as well. Once you get to the end of the level, a challenging boss appears. Defeat this boss, and you advance to the next level. Like other horizontal shooting games, "Keio Flying Squadron" features a number of upgrades for your character. Rami earns screen-clearing bombs and powerful projectiles that obliterate multiple enemies. "Keio Flying Squadron" also innovates the shooting genre by having players juggle two different combat systems. Players hold down the fire button to unleash powerful shots or let the button go to summon two tiny dragons. These dragons automatically attack nearby enemies, letting you focus solely on dodging fire. You need as much firepower as you can get in "Keio Flying Squadron,” taking down the U.S. Navy, the Russian Army, and a raccoon militia on your quest. However, these aren't the only enemies you encounter. Even household appliances like toasters come to life and attempt to destroy you. "Keio Flying Squadron" features seven levels, each with multiple chapters. If you're looking for even more of a challenge, the game has three difficulty settings. The graphics in "Keio Flying Squadron" are vibrant, colorful, and full of detail. The game features a dazzling display of on-screen pyrotechnics at all times. The character models use a distinctive style of classic Japanese animation. The crazy cartoon characters and comical animations take the sting out of the on-screen violence; there is no bloodshed or gore.Like most Sega CD games, "Keio Flying Squadron" makes full use of the improved sound technology in the system. Each enemy in the game has a distinctive sound with no sounds repeated among characters. The Sega CD console also allows the game to produce a whimsical soundtrack that is full of bass. This game is a lighthearted retro adventure that is suitable for all ages. Children and adults alike love its large sprites, bright colors, and challenging gameplay. Even after you beat it, this is one of those Sega games you continue to come back and play.
