The NEC VT85LP lamp is a replacement lamp for an array of NEC projectors. Projectors are usually desktop or tabletop devices that are used to project video onto a large white surface such as a wall. They are commonly used in schools for video presentations or in the workplace for the same reason. You can use a dedicated whiteboard or pull-down sheet to show movies, or simply choose the most neutral-colored wall available. The projector’s lamp is what helps display video clearly and crisply, no matter the flaws in the backdrop. The NEC VT85LP works best with NEC’s NP400, NP500, and NP600 projectors. However, the VT85LP is also compatible with the NEC VT490 and VT590 projector models. NEC projectors are designed so that many of the internal working pieces, such as lamps, are both replaceable and transferable among different models. This makes replacing parts easy and quick since you don’t have to hunt down an overly-specified part whenever something reaches the end of its productive life. When the lamp in the NEC projector burns out, you will see a blinking red light and a message telling you to replace the bulb. Before you do so, make sure to unplug the projector and wait for it to cool down, so that you don’t burn yourself removing the dead lamp. Next, remove the lamp panel screws and slide of the panel. Then, squeeze the indents in the back of the lamp and lift it out. Simply replace by pressing the new lamp into the empty slot and screwing the panel back in. This replacement projector lamp is encased in a simple black housing and runs on 200 watts. The NEC VT85LP can actually improve the energy efficiency of your projector thanks to its low consumption rate. If used in normal mode, the bulb can last up to 2,000 hours; if you run the projector on economy mode, however, the lamp can run for up to 3,000 hours.
