This IBM UltraStar 2ES, product number 09J1035, is an internal hard drive that features self-monitoring, analysis, and reporting technology, or SMART, that monitors the drive for various reliability indicators and notifies the user of imminent drive failure before the loss of critical data. This IBM 4.3 GB hard drive has a SCSI Ultra/Wide (SCSI-3 SPI) interface using an 80-pin SCA-2 connector rather than the typical 68-pin SCA connector, which might raise compatibility issues. Using single-ended bus signaling, this IBM UltraStar 2ES must be located within 10 feet of the host. With a bus clock of 20 MHz and a 16-bit bus, this IBM 4.3 GB hard drive has a transfer rate of 40 Mbpsand an internal data rate of 12.9 MBps. The buffer size is 256 kB.
