NotesWhen we started working on this album, we didn't know it's name, or exactly what songs it would include. Some of the songs weren't even written yet. But the members of the band, the conduits through which the band expresses itself to the world, have learned that the entity known as Feng Shui Ninjas gives us what we need, when we need it. Every time discussion of an album name came up, we shushed it, waiting patiently for it to appear. Then one night in April, as we were packing up after rehearsal, we were all calling it 'Home Shuriken Kit'. We don't know who came up with the term, or why. It was just there on our tongues when the time came. This album really captures the essence of the Feng Shui Ninjas sound circa 2010. We've grown and changed tremendously in the past year, adding new songs and dropping old ones that no longer seemed to fit. The album contains live favorites like Eponymous #1 and Three Suitors No Refunds, but also new studio ideas like Echoes and Poem - songs that sound like Feng Shui Ninjas, but we haven't been able to express live. We sometimes say we're 'allergic to genre'. With four multi-instrumentalists/vocalists in the band, we don't drop into the usual neat categorizations of sound. We play whatever it is the song needs - anything from pennywhistles to synthesizers is fair game.
