It also documents the desperation and sadness of the over 6000 prisoners who survived, the courage of the liberators of the camp, and the terrible evidence of torture and death that awaited them there when they arrived in 1945. Though it is a painful film to watch, HOLOCAUST is an important record of this terrible time in history, and works to raise consciousness in the hope that it will never happen again.
