As an overview, this unit offers 44 type RJ-45 from 10base-t to 1000base-t ports, four dual-personality ports, and one RS-232C DB-9 console port. The dual-personality ports can be used as either RJ-45 ports or as mini-GBIC slots that can support SFP transceivers. The switch operating system is stored on disk drives on your PC. For offices with gigabit-enabled PCs, laptops, and servers, the HP ProCurve Switch 2800 Series allows you to access heightened performance times. These can be 10 times those of 100 Mbit switches. Intuitive HP web interface software makes customized operation a breeze. A host of additional features can be accessed to further layer the security of your network. IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, and IEEE 802.3ab are standard for media access control. Single IP address stacking management for up to 16 switches conserves IP addresses for easy web browser networking. Traffic prioritization improves the relay of data packets. VLAN tagging is supported to reduce traffic across the LAN and improve security. Link Aggregation Protocol (LACP) increases available bandwidth, and port trunking links VLANs across switches. All switches are backward-compatible for non-gigabit devices and can be connected without sacrificing speed of communication between devices. Migrating to an HP ProCurve allows business administrators and IT professionals to take full advantage of existing high-performance-enabled PCs, laptops, and servers. In fact, the switch can operate at temperatures between 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 131 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius). Hardware is included for easy horizontal mounting. It is compatible with a standard 120 VAC power supply, but it can interface with 200-240 VAC with a standard AC adapter.
