Gamers use turn-based tactical combat to guide a group of mercenaries through a four-nation power struggle in Grand Kingdom. The game takes place on the continent of Resonail, where the collapse of the Uldein Empire has led to the Four Great Nations battling for supremacy, with a neutral Guild territory in between to provide the nations with warriors for hire. Players create a battle unit by hiring four mercenaries, and then head off to take on four different kinds of quests, with success resulting in rewards and reputation. Grand Kingdom also includes online multiplayer wars.<br><br>The action finds gamers traveling along branching paths on an overworld map to collect resources, find treasure, and engage in battle. The combat screen switches to a side-scrolling view, with players arranging their party on lower, middle, and upper paths. There are more than 15 different character classes from which to choose, and gamers can also place helpful objects like heal boxes and arrow towers on the battlefield. Combat comes in the form of melee, ranged, and magic attacks, while armaments like catapults, ballistae, and cannons provide indiscriminate support attacks. Grand Kingdom supports cross-platform play for PS4 and Vita users.<br><br>This version includes the full original game as well as a soundtrack CD, a 36-page art book, four in-game charm scrolls, and an exclusive theme.
