Author BiographyMaria Velardocchia is a retired teacher who spent 33 years, at the same school, educating elementary school children; in fact, in several instances, Maria taught the children of her former students! In August of 2013, Maria was the first place winner in a Grandparent's Day writing contest provided by Alayne Kay Christian, Children's Author. Maria has also edited several books and has written nursery rhymes for other authors. She has a degree from the University of South Florida, and was a National Board Certified Teacher. During Maria's teaching career, she was honored with several awards, including Teacher of the Year for the school at which she taught. Since retiring in 2013, Maria now enjoys staying home with Gabriel, cooking and baking for her family, crocheting, and of course, reading and writing!
