In a story loosely inspired by the writings of author H.P. Lovecraft, “Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn" offers an unusual combination of horror and comedy. Released in 1998, the VHS video runs 85 minutes and has an "R" rating. Star Bruce Campbell plays Ash, the only survivor in the original "The Evil Dead," and with his girlfriend he returns to the same desolate locale of the first film: a cabin in the woods far from civilization. The pair uncover a tape recorder containing the voice of a professor reciting parts of the Book of the Dead. The recording releases vile, evil spirits in the surround forest that descend on the cabin and look for human victims.
