Product Information
The nForce 790i Ultra SLI combines premium EVGA and NVIDIA technologies in an ATX form factor (12 inches by 9.6 inches) motherboard designed for one thing: High-performance gaming. EVGA designs motherboards and produces NVIDIA graphics processing units, and they loaded the nForce Ultra 790i motherboard with its eponymous chipset that supports front-side bus speeds of up to1600MHz (base speed) and high-performance features, such as scalable link interface and enthusiast system architecture, to give you ultimate component control and expansion options. The EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset supports three-way SLI mode, which allows you to connect up to three GeForce 8800 graphics processing units or three GeForce 8800 Ultra GPUs and run up to three displays simultaneously. In Quad SLI mode, you can two GeForce 9800 GX2 GTX GPUs and two GeForce 8800s or GeForce Ultra GTX 8800s and run up to four displays simultaneously. The GeForce 8800 and 9800 series GPUs feature superb lighting, 3-D, and anti-aliasing effects, and push high frame rates, or frames per minute (FPM). GeForce 3-D Vision Ready technology creates an immersive stereoscopic 3-D experience not limited to games. The 3-D effects apply to digital images and videos as well, adding depth and "life" to 2-D media. NVIDIA GeForce 8800 and 9800 series’ Luminex Engine technology produces high-end anti-aliasing at up to 16 times sample rates to eliminate "jaggies," the jagged edges around on-screen elements that occur when you run high-resource games with low-power graphics cards. NVIDIA’s Quantum Effects technology utilizes advanced shading processors based on computational physics to create reality-based lighting effects. Quantum Effects runs independently from the EVGA CPU, allowing it to direct more power to the game’s AI engine. Other features included in the 8800 and 9800 GPU series include nView Multi-Display technology, ForceWare unified driver architecture, Open GL 2.1 optimization and support, and PureVideo HD technology. In addition to the aforementioned 8800 series features, features inclusive to GeForce 9800 series GPUs include NVIDIA PhysX and HybridPower technology. NVIDIA’s hardware accelerator and real-time physics engine, PhysX processes physics-based graphics rendering, such as how fog rolls, how snow falls and how hard rain ricochets off a building, for enhanced realism without draining the CPU of excessive power. HybridPower technology conserves system resources by sending graphics processing to the CPU when running low-memory, non-intensive graphics software and applications, such as word-processing software and Web browsing. Graphics processing power increases exponentially with each GPU board, and the nForce 790i motherboard needs a processor with the power to make the most of its graphics capabilities. EVGA built nForce 790i motherboard around the Intel Penryn microarchitecture, making it compatible with Intel Core 2 Duo series, Intel Core 2 Extreme series, Intel Core 2 Quad series, and Intel Pentium Dual Core series.Product Identifiers
