Product Information
Dragon Quest is known for being the first roleplaying video game (RPG) in the Dragon Quest series of games. Together, Dragon Quest I & II are the two oldest RPGs from Enix in Japan, and they have been remade and compiled into a single elegant package for the Game Boy Color and Super Nintendo (SNES) console. This version of Dragon Quest I & II combined is a wonderful addition to Nintendo game collections for genre enthusiasts and retro gamers alike. In this roleplaying video game out of Japan, you play a hero who must battle a terrible monster, Dragonlord, to save the Kingdom of Alefgard and rescue the princess. Players control the young hero, who is a descendant of the famous warrior Erdrick, as he sets out on his quest. The hero first receives information about the Dragonlord at Tantegel Castel in King Lorki’s chamber. He must retrieve the stolen Balls of Light as part of his quest, and he sets out after receiving some items and gold. Dragon Quest for SNES sees the hero spending time speaking with various townspeople to gather information that will eventually lead him to the Dragonlord. The information leads the hero to additional places, events, and secrets that the player must remember for future reference. To safely progress from town to town, players must accumulate experience points and gold by overpowering enemies that lay outside of the towns, both in the dungeons as well as the overworld. The hero can buy improved weapons and armor as well as various goods in the towns. He can also recover his health and magic in an inn. Players can roam anywhere they please in Dragon Quest I & II series for SNES as there are no physical restrictions outside of the Dragonlord’s castle. However, difficulty in play increases thanks to the various monsters the hero encounters the further he moves from Tantegel Castle. Enemies appear randomly and are fought one at a time by the hero as he moves through forests, hills, and open fields. Dragon Quest features one on one combat in which the player has four commands—"fight," "run," "spell,” and "item”—which all help the hero in different ways. Once the hero defeats the Dragonlord, he triumphantly returns to Tantegel Castle, where King Lorik offers his kingdom as a reward. The hero turns down the offer and instead wishes to find his own kingdom. Accompanied by Princess Gwaelin, the hero then sets off in search of a new land, setting the stage for the events in the rest of the series of games, which take place many years later and tells the story of three heroes, descended from the original version of Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest I & II for SNES from Enix Japan features the first two installments of the franchise tailored for Super Nintendo gaming and is a version you can want to play again and again. Pick up supplies and gold to set off on your quest as you gain experience points, armor, weapons, and gold throughout the game to defeat the monsters. The excitement and adventure in Dragon Quest I & II for SNES can not be missed.Product Identifiers
