Originally released for sale in 2004, this Denon AVR 2805 7.1 Channel 135-Watt Receiver is packed with solid features that still make it a solid contender for those who want a quality surround sound controller for their home entertainment systems. This attractive black metal finish receiver is designed to handle a number of analog and digital inputs and outputs, allowing you to easily connect devices like DVRs, turntables, DVD and CD players, satellite and cable TV receivers, and digital TVs that sound great using this system. The receiver’s power supply is impressive, delivering 100 watts of high-quality DTS and Dolby Digital stereo sound to each of its seven channels for an excellent surround sound experience. A massive collection of audio and video connections on the receiver’s back panel includes a pair of stereo inputs, six audio/video inputs, a separate SACD/DVD-audio input set, and a preamp output for connecting a separate multi-channel power amplifier. The AVR 2805 also satisfies the desires of those who want listening and controller options in more than one room, with A/B speaker switching capability, an RS-232C port, Zone 2 and 3 stereo outputs, and a pair of 12-volt trigger controls for Crestron and AMX home automation systems. This dual-source output opens up the possibility, with a separate amplifier connected, to enjoy true 7.1 home theater surround sound from two different sources in two different rooms at the same time. Another unique feature of the Denon AVR 2805 7.1 Channel Receiver is its adjustable signal delay of up to 200ms, which continually attempts to correct for signal lags between video sources and the audio outputs that come through connected speakers. The ability to correct for this annoying signal lag means you’ll seldom see a speaker’s lips move before you hear the words they speak. Denon’s surround sound receiver also has a convenient auto-setup feature that eliminates some of the guesswork associated with setting a sound quality profile that best matches your listening environment. Along with the receiver’s exclusive Room EQ Adjust feature, these two design components make setting up an optimized output much easier. An optional DM-S305 omni-directional microphone and connecting cable plugs directly into the receiver’s front panel through a dedicated 3.5mm mini-plug input. This mic then serves as the Denon receiver’s ears, allowing it to “hear” the user’s audio output and listen for test tones to apply one of several surround modes that is most appropriate for their listening room. Broadcast radio listeners will appreciate this Denon receiver’s dedicated antenna connection on the back panel, which allows you to connect to a standard AM/FM loop antenna or a 75-ohm FM coaxial cable to receive all the best programs and save up to 56 AM/FM presets. The receiver’s front panel has all the push-button selectors, indicators, and connections you’d expect to find on a high-end system controller. The AVR 2805 has input connections for a component A/V or S-Video source and optical audio directly from the front panel. You can also switch between inputs and surround modes and parameters from here as well and connect to standard headphones for a more private listening experience.
