Author BiographyMichael O'Connell received his legal training in England and Ireland and practiced as a barrister between 1966 and 2006, specialising in criminal law. For 15 years he was honorary legal adviser to the Catholic Social Services for Prisoners (now the Bourne Trust), a charitable organisation that helps prisoners and their families. He also has a Master's Degree for his work in the arrest and detention powers of the Irish police.
