Product Information
Designed for two players only, for the Intellivision is a tank shooter similar to Combat for the Atari 2600. You and your opponent are rival tank commanders with one objective: to destroy each other. Maneuver your tank around one of the 240 randomly selected battlefields trying to shoot your opponent while avoiding his or her fire. Each player is given two different tanks to control and can switch back and forth between tanks, commanding only one tank at a time.

Unlike Combat, with its simple lines and boxes, battlefields in Armor Battle feature detailed landscapes with trees, roads, grass, buildings and rivers, each of which plays a strategic role in the action. Tanks run fastest on roads, but grass and water hazards slow them down; use trees and buildings for cover. Keep in mind that you can't drive your tank backwards; you must maneuver around obstacles such as buildings and destroyed tanks.

In addition to shooting enemy tanks, you can lay invisible mines in their pathways. But the mine explodes after five seconds, so get out of the way or you could destroy yourself. Players get one mine per round and begins Armor Battle with 50 tanks; the player with the most tanks left at the end of the game is the winner. Before beginning a round of play, you and your opponent should agree on how many battles you wish to engage in. If one player loses all 50 tanks, the game automatically ends. An M Network version of this game called Armor Ambush was released for the Atari 2600.Product Identifiers
