<h2>David Hall</h2><p>The 1943-S is less scarce than the 1942-S and 1941-S in Gem and Superb Gem condition. In the heyday of the uncirculated roll market in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the 1943-S was considered the second best roll of the 1941 to 1949 Washington quarters, after the then highly regarded 1942-S. I would speculate that many rolls were saved and many of today's Gems come from those rolls. </p>
