Product Information

Ron Guth

The 1909 Half Dollar is one of the most common dates of the series in terms of both total overall population and the number of Mint State examples. PCGS alone has certified well over one hundred MS64's. However, as common as this date may be, it is one of the few Barber Half Dollars with none better than MS67.

The luster on 1909 Half Dollars is usually frosty. It is nearly impossible to find an example that is poorly struck. Thus, the combination of plentiful supply and nice quality makes the 1909 Half Dollar an excellent value for the type collector.

David Akers
As a date, the 1909 is one of the most common issues in the entire series and Uncirculated examples are not at all difficult to locate. Even Gems appear with some regularity, at least in comparison to most other issues of the series.Product Identifiers
