The first fragrance of the line was launched in 1981 and immediately drew the attention of the celebrities. This scent was one of the first aromas offered via new technology, which allows sales by direct mail. In 1987, the Georgio Beverly Hills fragrance was sold to Avon for an astounding sum of $165 million.
