I wasn’t obvious whether the filter was new or not given that the box it came in was rather battered and the filter was filthy, but time takes its toll and I have no reason to doubt the seller’s veracity. The box I get, but a filthy filter properly stored in its more or less dust tight plastic case is a bit of a mystery. The filter cleaned up nicely using the soap and finger cleaning method I apply to first surface reflector mirrors, and it’s now functionally perfect; I’m pleased overall
