I eventually had to rotate the head so that it is on the bottom and placed the cell phone on it there so that it would stop moving. Additionally, I ended up having to install one of the metal plates on the outside of my phone case to allow it to stick to the magnet - placing it inside of the case did not allow it to get enough of a grip.
