Reviews
Writing in upbeat, intermittently rhyming verse, . . . Engle delivers a sweetly uplifting story about a girl who 'only needed courage and a chance to try.', * "A beautiful account of a young woman who knew that all she needed to reach her dream was courage and a chance to try.", Playful language with intermittent rhymes and repetition results in an enjoyable easy-to-read biography for young children of a little-known historical figure . . . De Acosta's determination in making her dream come true serves as an inspiration to young girls: they can soar in whatever endeavor they choose to pursue., This story based on the life of a Latina air-and-space pioneer is a welcome addition to the growing list of picture-book biographies of women who defied expectations., A great resource for STEM classrooms and readers interested in historical figures who paved the way for modern day pioneers.

Synopsis
In this beautiful picture book filled with soaring words and buoyant illustrations, award-winners Margarita Engle and Sara Palacios tell the inspiring true story of Aída de Acosta, the first woman to fly a motorized aircraft. On a lively street in the lovely city of Paris, a girl named Aída glanced up and was dazzled by the sight of an airship. Oh, how she wished she could soar through the sky like that! The inventor of the airship, Alberto, invited Aída to ride with him, but she didn't want to be a passenger. She wanted to be the pilot. Aída was just a teenager, and no woman or girl had ever flown before. She didn't let that stop her, though. All she needed was courage and a chance to try., In this beautiful picture book filled with soaring words and buoyant illustrations, award-winners Margarita Engle and Sara Palacios tell the inspiring true story of A da de Acosta, the first woman to fly a motorized aircraft. - 3***p (88)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseI've ordered from Rarewaves here in the US and the UK multiple times, and continue to do so. They always seem to have something I can't find anywhere else at all or for a reasonable price. When I purchase used items, they are as described, if not a grade better. Aways a quick turnaround after ordering, every item arrives promptly, professionally packaged. Many orders have free shipping, even for solitary item orders. I never needed a reason to communicate, as I've had no cause. Recommended.New Model Army Original Album Series (CD) Album (#297384568493)
- -***9 (190)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseA wonderful ebay seller! My item arrived on time and was well packaged for its trip through the mail. The item I received was in the exact condition as in the listing. The price was perfect, including shipping. The seller was very communicative when I had a few questions. You can't go wrong ordering from rarewaves-usa!
- n***1 (86)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem arrived still wrapped as advertised but it must have taken some damage in transit since it arrived with a couple cracks and a small chunk of the frame of the case had completely detached. BUT the discs were still undamaged so I messaged the seller to tell them I was still going to keep the item I just wanted to let them know about the issue and they messaged me back and offered me 20% off the order to make up for the inconvenience. Great seller. Would purchase from them again.
