Seller Notes: “A traditional brass balance beam scale, appears to be hand forged, with a crescent and circle end, ... “A traditional brass balance beam scale, appears to be hand forged, with a crescent and circle end, decorated with a circle dot patterning, beam arm with hand cut scale markings. the pan appears hammered brass with reinforcing pinned to the back, and has a series of embossed presumably makers markings, bearing Arabic text and pictorial designs. We unfortunately cant read the markings, the age and origin thus remains unknown, but the patina and wear suggest some age to the piece. Beam arm measures approximately 31 cm's in length, and pan measures 18.5 cm's in diameter. Scales are in good condition, surface tarnishing on the pan edges, one of the pan support chains is missing a segment, the pan chains may be replacements we are unsure, otherwise in very good, as shown in the pictures. All proceeds from this sale go to charity, supporting the work of the Devon Air Ambulance.”
