The original paddle had wallowed out so badly that it was starting to wear away at the shaft itself. The fit was so loose that the paddle would raise up as it was kneading the dough. This replacement is black, not gray, but it seems to be a great replacement. I thought I'd also need to try to replace the pan, but apparently the shaft is still ok and the problem was just a worn-out paddle.
