Synopsis
Follow the adventures of Cliff Haka, golf enthusiast and practical joker, from modest beginnings at low-end municipal courses in Illinois to world-class experiences at exclusive clubs. Share the journey from caddying for the country club set to playing such courses as Cypress Point, Pine Valley, St. Andrews and Royal Melbourne, as well as world-class memories from the Masters, the US Open and the historic Ryder Cup at Brookline. Haka also shares his impressions of courses and architecture from Cog Hill to Cruden Bay. Along the way there are encounters with golf legends Doug Sanders, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, celebrities Michael Jordan and Spiro Agnew, and crony pranksters Fast Eddie, Spunky and the Fer. Culmination of Haka's golf dreams came in 2003, when he was appointed a panelist for Golf Digest, thereby taking on the happy responsibility of playing and rating courses across the nation. Haka is director of libraries at Michigan State University, home of the Turfgrass Information Center. He and his wife Sue live and golf in East Lansing.
