Seller Notes: “Obviously reprinted in 1917 as the subject became relevant again during the course of the First ... “Obviously reprinted in 1917 as the subject became relevant again during the course of the First World War, with the Editor attempting to provide parallels between the Napoleonic Wars and the Great War. This scarce 1917 Reprint is in clean condition internally once past the RUSI markings on the front end-papers, but has a damaged spine with split spine gutters, and scuffed and discoloured covers. John Leyland, who wrote the Introduction was a well-known writer on naval affairs, and this volume was presented to the Institution by the book's Editor, Sir Francis Piggott.
